Juniors jumping for joy

Boston's juniors are celebrating after a triumphant day at the 2024 Lincolnshire Junior County Championships at Lindum Squash Club on Saturday.

More than 40 young players from across Lincolnshire took part. Archie Fountain, Alayna Buswell and Antonis Plauska made it a hat-trick of success for Boston, all coming away as county champions in the U15 boys, U15 girls and U11 boys categories respectively.

There very credible performances from Filip Wiercinski (3rd in the U13 boys) and Benas Jennings (who won his first match in the U17 boys before having to pull out with injury).

As well as extending our thanks to Lindum Squash Club for hosting the event and to all the volunteers who made it happen, we'd like to say a massive well done to all of our junior members who took part.

These results are a fantastic achievement, underlining that the club has been one of the most successful in Lincolnshire at bringing through young players in recent years.

As well as congratulating all of our younger players, we would also like to thank our coaches Jacky Parsons and Pete Andrews for their efforts (as well as Millie Tomlinson for her ‘Train Like a Pro’ series during the summer).

Of course, whilst all of the competitive success is very welcome, even more important is that young players enjoy their squash. Our popular 'Saturday Squash' sessions run by Pete and Jacky focus on this (while also providing lots of hints and tips for those looking to improve their games), and if you weren't already aware this runs from 10am-12noon, with the price just £3.50 per child (members) or £4.00 per child (non-members). There's no need to book, rackets and balls can be provided (you just need non-marking shoes) and all ages up to 18 are welcome.

With the season coming around, it could be a great time for kids to get involved in the game. Contact Pete on bostonsquashandracketball@gmail.com / 01205 839475 if you have any questions.
