Reopening Monday 12th April
We are delighted to confirm that the club will be reopening on Monday 12th April!
We're looking forward to being able to welcome everyone back to the club - complete with all the recent improvements to the gym and major refurbishment of the glassback courts which have taken place whilst the club has been closed. England Squash released their guidelines for reopening yesterday. In short, the situation is largely as it was in December:
Squash and racketball
For squash, play is restricted to solo practice; other members of your own household/support bubble; one-to-one coaching with a qualified coach; and junior group sessions.
This means that for now, members/guests cannot go on court with other members/guests for an ordinary 'knockabout' or game - unfortunately not even for sides or socially distanced drills. We hope that this will be relaxed from 17th May.
The popular Saturday morning junior sessions will resume from Saturday 17th April. Booking is essential. Please contact Pete (bostonsquashandracketball@gmail.com) for more information if you have not already booked your child in and they wish to attend!
Please note this means that no courts will be available on Saturday mornings between 10am and 12:15pm.
Gym
The gym will be able to reopen in full, with the equipment well spaced out. Don't forget the gym has been extensively refurbished since we last opened the doors!
Table tennis
Court 3 (the blue court) will remain dedicated to table tennis at this moment in time.
Changing rooms, bar, and staffing
Given we expect reduced demand whilst squash and racketball are still heavily restricted, Pete will be working 10am-noon; Monday to Friday and 10am-2pm on Saturdays.
The changing rooms will be open.
Given indoor hospitality is not allowed to reopen yet, the bar will be closed.
Finances, subscriptions etc
The committee have worked up a scheme to reimburse and reward members who have already paid their subscriptions for 2020/21, and we will circulate details of this in the next week or so.
If you have not yet paid your subscription for 2020/21, you will also of course be welcome to rejoin the club from now onwards.
Although there are still some frustrating restrictions which will prevent us from going back to normal 'club life' as we would all like to, this is an important first step for the club. Don't forget that major improvement works have been carried out since the club was last open, and more will follow in the coming months. We hope to see everyone very soon!
